I fell for the scam of safe data trust which is a company that supposedly protects you from identity theft. If you sign up, they charge your account $4.95 to get the initial package.

I was also promised a $100.00 gift card from Walmart. After 3 months of calling and apologies, I never received my card. Every time I called they stated it would be sent in 5-10 business days. Then I was given an e-mail address to a redemption center.

I sent them an e-mail and they replied with an e-mail that stated I would have to spent $100 dollars a month to get a $25.00 rebate. I would have to do this for 4 months and get 4 rebates to equal a $100. Sounds like I have to spent 400.00 at Walmart in order to get my total redemption. Does this sound like a $100.00 rebate.

They continued to charge my account. I called my credit card company and they disputed the charges for me and I was able to retrieve my charges and this included the initial $4.95 fee.

Beware of this company. They are liars!!!

Reason of review: Not as described/ advertised.

Safe Data Trust Pros: Horruble.

Safe Data Trust Cons: Scam.

Location: Cortland, New York

So glad you got your money back. Sad people fall for these scams.

I never give out info without verifying or research and if they don’t sound American I hang up right away. Had a few calls over insurance stuff and they sounded Indian.

Slipped once said I was happy with my auto insurance usaa and then they added it to their list so it confirmed it was a scam. Have to be very careful about giving info over the phone.

Thank you for this posting. Just a week ago I gave this company my debit card info that they "needed to charge in order to ship me my gift card".

I got the charge alright, as well as from another company my information was shared with, Personal Wellness Institute.

Thank goodness I was able to cancel with the Institute after they informed me that I was probably scammed. This post was a great confirmation of Safe Data Trusts scam which led me to cancelling my debit card.

C'mon people. Have some fun with these folks.

Obviously your phone number has been compromised, and is on a list that is being sold to scam, or other questionable businesses, and unless you change your phone number, it will continue. Mine is apparently as popular as a drunk freshman during rush. I get several a week. If I have the time, I entertain myself by feeding them bogus information, and giggle when they cant seem to get my card to process.

If you can, write it down as you give them the BS, because often they will ask you to repeat it, and this perplexes them. The goal, and how you judge your success, is if you can get them to swear at you when you reveal that you are scamming them. Only had it a couple of times, but it feels so satisfying.

Most important thing to remember is to never give your credit card info to anyone who calls you. Would you give your car keys to someone who approached you and volunteered to detail your car while you shopped at the mall?

We must all become guardians of our own security, unfortunately, and one strong weapon against this kind of fraud is information. Tell everyone you know when a new scam comes out, and remind them of the cardinal rule.

Dont give out your credit information to someone who calls you. Be well.

Company is a fraud - I Googled the company while listening to the offer - n the process I gave my card info - before continuing I said NO and ask for them NOT to charge the card.

They proceeded to argue with me - while I had them on the phone I reported them as fraud - while then listened on speaker. After I hung up they continued to call me more than 13 times.

I suggested that my bank watch for the fraud number so that this could be reported to the appropriate authority.
