Called my bank and got rerouted to Safe data!! Offered a $100 Walmart Card
I think their phone system was hacked. I called my bank and immediately got an automatic message about winning a free Wlamart gift card...Then a lady with a foreign accent came on and told me I won a gift card and it would cost 3.95 for shipping the card...red flags went up, but I gave her my info anyway, thinking I had called my bank. I was then transferred to a man with a foreign accent who asked me for the same information, then he asked me to repeat it a couple of times..wanted me to repeat that I was being charged 3.95 and wanted me to repeat that I would contact Safe Data if I had any issues in getting the card. the number he gave me was 185*-444-****. The repetition was weird, and then when he got all of my info, he said "Have a good day" and I stopped him and asked him "Aren't you my bank?" Basically he said no that they were a promotional company or some *** and then he hung up..I immediately cancelled the debit card. I called my bank (Umpqua Bank) and told them about the breach. They said they weren't seeing a breach..I told them to check again. It might be their PBX phone system (Cisco) that got hacked..but I'm also wondering if hackers infiltrated my call on my end (cell phone--carrier is Virgin)

Scamming the elderly
Safe Data Trust called and talked my Dad into giving them a credit card number. As soon as he told me, I called the number they had left and got the run around that the account was not set up that I needed to call back in 24-48 hours.
I did and got the same message again. I called the credit card company and they removed the one charge that had gone through and cancelled the credit card. This is not a reliable business and they are well trained to talk people into giving up their credit card information and especially the elderly that are likely to answer their phones during the day.
I reported them to the Attorney General's office as a scam.

Y'all got a good bank
I called my insurance company and some one told me there was a problem with the phones. I could receive a $100 gift card for my inconvenience.
Then they started in on the sales pitch for Safe Data Trust and Brand Name Saving Advantage. I thought I was dealing with my insurance company so I gave them my credit card number and information. At the end of the call the person said the phones were working and he would connect me with my party, but I was just disconnected.
I found out that I had misdialed the number for my insurance company and got Safe Data Trust by accident. I Cancelled my credit card.
This just happened to me. My bank is Umpqua Bank; I called them at 1-800-4UMPQUA and got the same scam—free gift card, just need you debit card number, etc.
HOWEVER: Umpqua's actual number is 1-866-4UMPQUA.
It's natural to assume 1-800, but that number has been obtained by scammers, as a lady at the REAL Umpqua confirmed for me. Supposedly they're working on getting that number cancelled...
